High School: Attended El Paso Gridley High School and played three years of varsity football under Coach Mike Souhrada. He was named Team MVP his junior and senior seasons, First-Team All-Conference wide receiver his junior and senior years, Shriners All-Star Team his senior year, Pantagraph All-Area wide receiver his junior year and Pantagraph All-Area defensive back his senior year. He also played three years of varsity basketball under Coach Brian Quam. He was named Most Improved his sophomore year, Best Defensive Player his junior year, Defensive MVP his senior year and All-Conference Honorable Mention his senior year. He also played three years of varsity baseball under Coach Mike Souhrada. He was named First-Team All-Conference his junior and senior seasons, Team Batting Average Leader his junior year, Gold Glove Award Winner his senior year and Best Pitcher his senior year.
