Aurora University junior outside hitter Sydnei Avery has been recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as the Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.

Avery earned the award by averaging 4.92 kills per set while hitting .313 as Aurora went 2-2 last week. She opened the week with 17 kills, seven digs, three block assists, and a service ace in a 3-0 NACC win at Dominican on Tuesday, September 21. Avery then kicked off the Spartan's run at the Illinois Wesleyan Holiday Inn Express Classic with 20 kills, six digs, and three aces in a four-set loss to No.5 Calvin. After recording seven kills against No. 7 Hope, she closed out the tournament with a 20-kill, 12-dig double-double in a 3-0 win over ORV Mount St. Joseph. 

On the season, Avery is averaging a team-leading 3.88 kills per set while hitting .231 to go along with 11 service aces. 

Avery and the Spartans (6-6 overall and 2-0 in the NACC) are in scheduled action next on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup against No. 5 Carthage College in Thornton Gymnasium.
